| Discount tix on sale for Aug. 10 Jolly Roger Day Jolly Roger Amusement Park on 30th Street in Ocean City has set aside a full Sunday of unlimited waterpark and amusement rides at Jolly Rogers Splash Mountain Waterpark featuring White Water Rapids, the Tube Slide, Lazy River and kiddie pool. The deal includes two rides on the Wildcat Rollercoaster, three speedworld rides and a round of golf at one of the two 18-hole miniature golf courses. The bargain day benefits the Maryland Coastal Bays Foundation and Delmarva Low-Impact Tourism Experiences (DLITE). The Aug. 10 Jolly Roger Day will offer more than $200 of the carnival-like amusement parks rides and games for just $25 or five tickets for $100. Tickets are limited. They will not be sold the day of the event and must be purchased in advance only. Call 410-213-BAYS (2297) or purchase tickets at the 5th and 131st Street Kite Loft, OC Baseball Cards on Talbot Street behind Fishers Popcorn, or the Coastal Bays office across from the Greene Turtle on Route 611. Money raised at the event will be used to advance education and preservation efforts in Assawoman, Isle of Wight, Sinepuxent, and Chincoteague bays. Last year the event raised $10,000. DLITE, the non-profit coalition of kayak outfitters, canoe renters, bike tours, the National Park Service, the Nature Conservancy and a host of others, is setting up programs to educate eco-tour operators and allow visitors to the Eastern Shore to enjoy its natural amenities while learning and practicing good stewardship.
