The Maryland Coastal Bays Program would like
to thank Bahia Marina for their very generous donation of 12 youth-sized personal floatation
devices and all tie lines needed for canoes used in Coastal Bays outdoor
education programs at the 800-acre Weidman Farm along Greys Creek in northern
Worcester County.
Since 2001 the education program has been immersing young people
in the natural environment while providing them with fun, hands-on activities
to teach the environmental and cultural value of the coastal bays.
Canoeing excursions will be an exciting addition to the farm
activities which already include water quality monitoring, seining for critters,
marsh mucking, and wetland delineation exercises. Now students will
be able to explore the perimeter of a beautiful salt marsh in Grey's Creek.
The program also owes thanks to the Department of Natural Resource's
for their $800 which will be used toward the purchase of paddles,
throw bags, and additional personal floatation devices. The Coastal Bays Program
would like to thank these organizations and all of the Worcester County
community for making initiatives like this possible.
