Environmental Impact Of Domestic Cats

In the case of domestic cats, other organisms are simply being eaten. Consider that according to the University of Wisconsin, at least 7.8 million songbirds are killed in that city every year. If just one in 10 residents in the 28,000-strong coastal bays watershed has an outdoor cat that devours 10 birds annually, the watershed, which lies directly in the middle of the Atlantic Flyway, loses 28,000 birds each year. This is not counting all of the feral cats that are owned by no one.

  • Don't feed strays
  • Keep your cat inside
  • Support humane removal of cats from outdoors
  • Spay and neuter
